ZACK TAYLOR DIES
Good friend
and wonderful musician Zack Taylor passed away on Wed this past week
Mar 5th. Zack had not been feeling well for a while , but was
playing beautifully as always. He had complained last weekend
to me about being in pain . I had suggested going to the clinic
several times as others in the area had as well.
Zack's roommate Jimmy came home from work and
found him at his favorite picnic table , where it appeared he was
smoking a cigarette and just quit breathing , while he was enjoying
the sun.
Zack came to the area through Mark Laborde with
a resume, having shared stages with the likes of
Charlie Daniels , Johnny Cash, Paul Overstreet and many many others.
Zack , Mark and I played the main room as
"Bogaloo ",for several years where Zack's version of the National
Anthem brought the house down night after night. Zack was famous for
climbing things and revving the crowd up with his incredible
playing. During those days we nix named him Thibodaux ,
not a coonass by birth but a coonass anyway!
Zack and Mark both later helped me resurrect
the LUCKY DOGGS . "I thank you Zack for that". We went on to
play some great shows and really had a wonderful time full of
good memories.
One of my best memories of Zack was in the main
room at the Bama one night Zack was up on the plank and fell never
missing a note. He hit the ground hard and was sore for some time.
As a person ,Zack was one of the gentlest souls
I ever knew. He kept me in line many a time. He once told me
he was an Angel , I believed him them and believe him now. I can
certainly promise you where his soul will rest.
Zack found a home and a family here on the key
. I thank you all for that. He was loved by many and will be greatly
missed.
God bless you Zack and I hope we meet again.

Whitey had a
great birthday surrounded by friends and family. It is how it should
be. We met some great musicians and new faces , so mission
accomplished. I want to take a minute and say thanks to Clepper /
George , Phil Hurd , and all the rest of the musicians involved Sat.

and I believe is ready for the next journey where ever that may be.

NEIGHBORHOOD ATTENDED . THE FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP WAS JUST DELIGHTFUL.
MINNESOTA was the
shit!!!!!! We had a blast , and want to thank Brad & Penny for
having us up . Next year we're going for 10 days . Thanks to Jimmy
at the Legion my cousin Vinny , all the musicians at Floyd's , and
the entire community of Mounds .
The lake was incredible ,
like swimming in a giant pool . Again we can't thank you
Minnesotan's enough.

KINDS OF SPECIAL PEOPLE SUCH AS LIZ AND MICHEL AND THEIR KIDS. I
FINALLY GOT TO MEET BELLA MY NEW BABY GIRL . THE SPRING BREAKERS
WERE OUT AND A SURPRISE VISIT FROM MELODY AND KEN. THANK YOU

MORNING ABOUT 2PM. DEC 29th .SHE WAS COMFORTED BY , PATRICK AND AZAR IN HER
FINAL MOMENTS. SANDY HAD BEEN RECEIVING HOSPICE CARE AT LAURA
KESTER'S HOME FOR MONTHS WHERE SHE WAS SURROUNDED BY LOVE AND
FRIENDS. SHE HAD MADE PEACE IN HER LIFE AND HAD FORGIVEN EVERYONE
AND EVERYTHING THAT HAD TRANSPIRED IN HER GYPSY LIFE ." IF THAT
INCLUDES YOU , THEN YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. BE SO KIND AS TO PASS IT
ON " .
SANDY LIVED A LIFE OF ROCK
AND ROLL , SHE TRAVELED WITH THIS BAND AND MANY OTHERS LIKE ONE OF
THE GUYS, ASKING NO SPECIAL TREATMENT. SHE GAVE COMFORT WHEN WE
NEEDED IT , WISDOM WHEN WE ASKED FOR IT, STRENGTH WHEN IT WAS SO
NEEDED AND LOVE WHEN I DIDN'T DESERVE IT.

, DRUG OUT SETTLING OF DIFFERENCES.
The long awaited
"MAXWELL HOUSE " Named by my
old friend JW SLYDE, is a group of song , all around the theme of
PRISON . Each song telling a story of the time I spent some 25 years
ago. I didn't kill anyone as JOHN PRINE says ,I was just trying to
have some fun , and
make some quick cash. Didn't happen!!!
I promised my father years ago I would not release these song
until my children were grown and he was dead. Both are true today
and it's time. I am very proud of these songs and certainly feel as
though I earned them. MAXWELL HOUSE will be recorded in my studio at
home and mixed elsewhere , but should be easier to complete. I will
be attempting to steal some overtones and color from my dear
friend GOVE SCHRIVNER. Another of the father figures of music
to me. Music should be more easy listening as I attempt to tell the
stories of my youth.

ALWAYS BEEN PEOPLE I COULD FEEL TOUCH AND TALK TO. MY MUSIC AND LIFE
